Happy 3 week old Birhtday Jackie!

Today Jackie is 3 weeks old! She is still on baby bird formula, and is doing great. Next week she will be 4 weeks old and I will have to start weaning her. I am very sad that I will have to wean her that soon. She looks like a young adult now, but is still just a little baby. She learned how to fly last week . She could fly very high so we had to cut her wings a little. She knows her name and when I call her, she will fly to me. She will even come to me when I open her cage door. She is very sweet, and even Daddy likes her. (which is very neat because he seldom likes animals)

Jackie

As you know we are all animal lovers. If we see a dog on the road we will stop to try to catch it, if we see a cat outside we try to catch it, even if our cats catch a mouse we go out and try to get it from them.
Well let me tell you about our newest edition to the family......
Last Tuesday me and the boys were in the front yard taking out the garbage. I went around the corner to get Tiggie who had gotten out of the house. When I was rounding the corner to come back I saw 3 little wigglie things on the ground by the porch, not thinking about them I keep going. When I had almost made it to the porch Shannen yelled, "there are 3 baby birds over here"! Shayden and I went running over to where he was. And just like he said there were 3 baby sparrows there. Shannen and I picked up one and ran to the house. When Shelbie asked were the third one was we told her it was dead. She went out the to make sure it was. It was dead so we had to throw it away. The one Shannen had picked up was gasping for air. He did not have a a chance to name his because 30 minutes later it died. The one I rescued lived. It was 4 days old when we found it and it was completely bald with no feathers (sparrows are one of the fastest growing birds). It is now 12 days old and has all its feathers. It is a girl and her name is "Jackie". She can also perch on my finger and will soon learn how to fly.

The Perfect Dinner

Last night I made dinner, I made broccoli casserole (big thumbs up in our family), brown sugar- glazed carrots (sounds disgusting, but is VERY good), rolls (love it) and last, but not least, a salad (We have a salad every night with dinner). It was very pretty and very good. Every one loved it. I liked the carrots and the casserole the best.

2. In a medium saucepan cook carrots or parsnips, covered, in a small amount of boiling salted water for 8-10 minutes (10-12 minutes or turnips) or until crisp-tender. Drain; remove from pan.

3. In the same saucepan combine butter, brown-sugar, and a dash of salt. Cook over medium heat until combined. Add carrots, parsnips or turnips. Cook, uncovered, about 2 minutes or until glazed, stirring frequently. Season to taste with black pepper.

Skittles

We haven't blogged in a long time and we are sorry, but here is a update... A couple of weeks ago was my 12th birthday, for my birthday I had really wanted permission to get a rat. I asked my Mom and Dad and said that I would buy it myself, I just wanted permission to get it. Every time I would ask my Dad would say "yeah right, NO". capital N and capital O. Every time he answered with that I would go to bed feeling very sad. Well my birthday soon came around. The day felt long and sad (especially when my birthday landed on star testing) and I was sure that I was not getting a rat. When it was time for opening gifts everyone was whispering about Mama's and Daddy's git for me. When I had opened all the other gifts Daddy brought out a rat cage. I was really excited, when I saw a little head poke out of it's house. It is a Albino rat and I named it "Skittles" because her eyes are red like little red skittles.

Shylie Update

I haven't written on Shylie lately so here is a update on her. About two weeks ago she was laying on her blanket in the play room smiling and cooing, when Mama got all excited and told us all to come watch. As we where watching she rolled over we all got excited and started yelling. All of us were in watching her and we were so loud she started crying. We are all still very happy. Just about 3 nights ago Shannen was playing with her on the couch and I guess she thought he was funny, so funny she started to laugh. It was very cute. We all watched her for about 15 minutes. And today she was all smiles and coos.

Ocean w/ Shyloh & Jeff

Last Monday Shyloh and Jeff bought Shelbie and I to the Ocean and Aquarium. It was lots of fun. Even the drive there was fun. On our way up Shyloh let Shelbie and I watch a movie on her ipod. We watched Pirates Of the Caribbean 2. Then when we got there we went to the Aquarium first. We spent about 2 hours. Then we went to the beach that Shyloh and Jeff got engaged at and had lunch there. After lunch Shyloh and Jeff went on a walk. Soon after they went on there walk Shelbie went walking around taking pictures of the water and rocks. Why they were gone I fed some of our fried chicken (the chicken we were supposed save for Mama) to some hungry Seagulls (I only fed them 2 pieces of chicken). Then I left to find Shelbie, we climbed on the rocks and played in water. When we came back to the picnic blanket the seagulls were eating our chicken out of the bucket! We scared them off and covered the chicken. Then we left and spent 30 minutes trying to find the beach that we go to. When we got there we played in the waves and napped. It was really fun!
