Sock Hats!!!

OK, so I really LOVE sock hats! They are so fun, cute, and warm. I love the ones with the pom-poms hanging down on the sides! Shyloh lent me her sock hat making kit and I made a couple sock hats. I made a white hat with a black flower (complements to Shyloh for making the flower) and a black one with a white flower and white yarn sewed in and out around the whole edge. I'm going to let Shelbie wear the black one when we go snowboarding and I'm going to wear the white one. Shelbie also bought some brown yarn with speckles and asked me to make her one also with a brown flower. Daddy has put in a request for a black with orange edging and the letters SF engraved in it. If you can't tell our family (especially Daddy) are San Francisco Giants fans;) I've only finished two so far, so when i finish the others I'll post pictures of them! For now though, I've only got pictures of the ones I finished. Someday I will learn how to make the pom-pom hats and the ones with bills! Someday...someday;)

WakeUp Starlight - One Step Away

This band was made from 2 friends in Canada who met at their church youth group. They became friends by talking about there interest in music and love for God. After high school they traveled on a lot of music based mission trips and were soon given the opportunity to perform with some Christian artist such as Jars of clay and Pillar. This band is called WakeUp Starlight and this song is One Step Away. I love this song and think it's great! Hope you like it too!

Rock Rattlesnake

This snake is called the Rock Rattlesnake because it lives by rocky area’s. It grows from 15” – 33” long. Its also known as Banded Rock Rattlesnake. This snake is a venomous snake. It is part of the Rattlesnake family. These are not good pets for little kids.

One of the most spectacular of native US rattlesnakes, the Banded Rock Rattlesnake, Crotalus lepidus klauberi, has been a popular species among private and zoological collections. Found in some of the most difficult terrain, the klauberi is sheltered from the collection method of road cruising which will only yield its nominate race the Crotalus lepidus. Restricted in most part to a life in the high mountain slopes, these animals enjoy basking in the early morning hours of the spring, summer and fall. Their range in the US is isolated to small mountain "islands" from southwest Texas, throughout southern New Mexico and into southeastern Arizona. In the wild the primary prey is sceloporus and small mice, however, in captivity they will do very well on mice.

Most females in the wild produce litters of 1 to 5 offspring during the months of June, July, August and September. On rare occasions births before and after these months have occurred. In captivity the births still coincide with the wild cycle. They enjoy a nice long "hibernation". Breeding usually happens during the months of August, September, October and November. Some specimens with lichen green stripes, purples, blues, lavenders, pinks and grays, are next to impossible to recognize in suitable terrain without the alarming buzz they sound off.

Western Diamondback Rattlesnake

Western Diamondback Rattlesnake’s can grow more than six feet long. Their average length is three feet long. These snakes are very dangerous. They are dangerous because they are venomous. If they bit you, you would have to go to the hospital. This snake can track its prey in the dark. It is called the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake because it has a row of dark diamonds running down its back.  These are not good pets for little kids!

Identification
When first spotting a snake, hopefully from a safe distance,
take note of the tail region. The rattlesnakes of our
area will have a very distinct black and white ring, or
banded pattern, very close to the end of the tail. The actual
"rattle" occurs following these distinct black and
white bands. The rattle can sometimes be difficult to see,
or even missing, but the bands are generally very apparent.

If you can not see the tail region, the head can help with
identification. Our rattlesnakes have a somewhat
"triangular," or "heart" shaped head which does not conform
to the rest of their body.

Never rely on coloration or patterns on the back or sides of snakes to assume they are not venomous. Regardless of what you might read or hear, and regardless of the source, coloration and patterns vary greatly. What appears to be a harmless gopher snake just might turn out to be something else!

Tips on Bearded dragon’s

Here are some really good points-

  • They can live for more than seven years.
  • They can be handled every day.
  • They can be purchased as babies and you can watch them grow.
  • They need fed only once a day.
  • Their cages only need to be cleaned once a week (spot cleaning should be done every day).
  • They become tame very easy.

Not so good points-

  • Bearded dragons carry diseases that can be passed on to humans unless routine hygiene precautions are taken.
  • They require artificial hear to maintain there body temperature.
  • It can be very expensive to set up a bearded dragon’s aquarium.

Problems to watch out for-

  • Mites, ticks, or fleas on lizards.
  • Dirty water bowls.
  • Dirty cages.
  • Lack of thermostats or ultraviolet lights.
  • Wild-caught lizards.

Top tip-

  • If your lizard get sick you should take it to the vet.
  • If you are really precautious you can take your lizard in every 3 months to the vet to get a check up.
  • If you bring your lizards on walks, do it only 1 a week.
  • Natural sunlight may change your lizards personality. It may change in a flash from being friendly to aggressive.
